My famous Uncle
I remember when I was much younger and I asked my mother if we had any famous relatives. She told me, in jest, Uncle Sam. I asked who it was, but she didn't elaborate. Well, it wasn't until I was in high school that I realized who Uncle Sam was. Everybody has a family member like Uncle Sam.
He's the family member that has used, abused and done all types of horrible things to you, but you better not say anything to him or he'll bring up the two good things he's done for you.
He made all the darkskin family members work without pay for a long time while beating us, giving us meager portions of food, giving us insufficient shelter and clothing, and even killing some of us.
Of course, when he started pay us for it he made it known how good a Uncle he was.
He must've really hated us darkskin folks because he just let light family members lynch us, hit us with rocks and burn crosses on our lawns without protecting us. I mean my mother wouldn't even let me hit my sisters and he's letting folks hang each other.
Then he started picking fights with out of pure paranoia. In the 1950's, he went all the way to Asia to pick a fight with some Koreans because he was afraid of the Soviet Union. Then, in the 1960's he went to Vietnam for the same reason.
Now he's gotten to the point where even some of his light-skinned cousins don't even like him.
Of course he was doing this unintentionally. I'd hate to see what he'd do if he was really trying to hurt us.

Wow George, I think we may be related. You see your uncle Sam is actually my Uncle Sam too. I'm one of the children of the "darkskinned" relatives that he use to mistreat. Things are better for me than they were for Ma and Pa 'nem but wow I still wish Uncle Same would lighten up (no pun intended) on us darker folks.
