BRACKETOLOGY: Red Dawn
1988. The significance of that year is greater than you know. Especially in the Ivy League. 1988 was the last time a team other Penn or Princeton won the Ivy League and went on to the NCAA tournament. Apparently, twenty years is enough for the Big Red of Cornell because they are primed end the rule of the P's.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of another stretch of dominant basketball since UCLA of the 60's and 70's and that's the truth. Imagine Duke or North Carolina winning the ACC EVERY year without competition for twenty years. You can't...that's unbelievable.
Cornell now stands 6-0 in the league with eight games to play so they're not totally out of the woods yet. However, with Princeton and Penn in a tie for fifth, things are looking good in Ithaca.
Something is brewing in West Lafayette, In. The Purdue Boilermakers, in a conference with Indiana, Michigan St, and Wisconsin, have a half-game lead on the competition. They made claim that they were not going anywhere with a win @ Wisconsin. Watch out.
Don't look now, but Kentucky is coming.
On to the bracket:
The Injury bug has hit Dayton hard, unfortunately it may cost them a trip to the NCAA tournament. A healthy Dayton squad can go far in March. A beat-up Dayton squad may lose early in the NIT.
I'm sick of George Mason.
The number one seeds are ranked in this order: 1. Memphis 2. Duke 3. Kansas 4. Tennessee
