Great Moments in ECU History pt. 4: You'll Never Be First String

Yes yes yes. At times there seemed to be a lot of folks walking around Greenville, NC with low IQs. Not really, but common sense seemed to be lacking. Especially among students...all students...including athletes.

So begins the story of one Mr. Richard Alston. Richard was a redshirt freshman on the football team and second-string quarterback when I arrived on campus as a freshman. He ended up his career as a wide receiver, but he was a pretty good football player. He even played in the NFL for at least a year.

That's not what this blog is about. It's about stupidity, the stupidity of running a counterfeit money operation out of your apartment when you're on scholarship.

Now, to #1's credit, he was not really the one in charge of the counterfeit ring. However he was the one who tried to buy a whopper with a fake $50 bill.

Here's what I don't understand, did you not think of the consequences if someone figured out you're using fake money? Apparently not because what did #1 do when he was confronted about the fake bill?

He ran. Yes, ran, like a Southern Miss defender was chasing him at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. No playing dumb, no I must've got this when I bought _____. He just ran.

He ran and was caught. What's worst is that when the cops got to his apartment all the evidence was STILL there. You serious. They don't have a code red for when something goes wrong?

Now eventually young Mr. Alston moved passed this incident. However, if you're planning on being a part of criminal conspiracy, please be intelligent enough to NOT incriminate yourself. I don't know what's wrong with my people sometimes.
