BRACKETOLOGY: March 4, 2007 2:05 pm (Welcome Winthrop, Belmont, Davidson, Eastern Kentucky)

MEAC: As always it'll be an event in Raleigh with Rickey Smiley and Tom Joyner doing live shows. Almost seems as though the basketball is an afterthought despite of it being the reason everything is going on. This tournament is too spread out and leaves too much opportunity for an upset. Many people may say that's a good thing, but it'll have your conference champion in the play-in game more than the conference commisioner would like. Delaware St went 16-2 and was clearly the best team during the regular season. You just never know what's going to happen in this tournament.

SWAC: I'd love to see a team come up one year out of the SWAC and have an amazing season because this is another conference that lives in the play-in game. It's going to take a miracle of God to keep the tournament champion, no matter who it is, out of that Tuesday-night game in Dayton in a week and a half. Mississippi Valley St and Jackson St seem to be the class this season and I expect to see them both in the finals. I'm picking Jackson St.

Big West: Cal St Fullerton was in CONTROL a month ago and then the wheels fell off. That's when Long Beach St got in the driver's seat, took the wheel, mashed down on the gas, and left everyone in its dust. With a tournament format that protects them to the semi-finals, the 49ers look to be in great shape to go dancing this year. Long Beach, USC, UCLA...a good year in Southern California.

Southland: Had Texas A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI been eligible for the Southland tournament last year, they would've been a dangerous team. This year they're eligible and they've put themselves in the best possible position to win it. It did come down to the final regular season game against Sam Houston but the Islanders got it done. I expect to see round three of SHSU and Texas A&M-CC next Sunday. The Islanders will win the rubber match.
